Quick Update
Ok so this is going to get into a routine again,
sort of. All this blog has been for a good year and a half is an empty space to
put coursework so now I binned all that and I'm going to put everything else on here instead. Hopefully this turns into a weekly thing, I don't know
but this really needed an update and this is it, welcome back.

Hourglass Sea
Well it’s been a while since I posted something; I’ve not forgotten you, my not-so-good-I-might-try-harder excuse is I’ve been waiting for something good to turn up. Now you’re probably wondering what on earth the title of this post means but if not then well done! You’ve heard of the wonderful band Hourglass Sea.
I had never heard of the band up to this point but nonetheless I saw an opportunity to help out on a music video, how could I resist? So after a quick phone call and the overnight train I was ready to roll. It was only after the shoot though I had a proper chance to sit down and have a listen to the kind of music Hourglass Sea makes and I have to say I couldn’t help but think of the PlayStation classic, Ape Escape. Now if you’ve ever had the chance to experience that game you’ll know that the soundtrack is unique to say the least, but there was one track in particular on the game (which you can have a listen to here) and you would almost think it was made by Hourglass Sea, seriously it’s pretty much identical in style. Maybe the band did the music for Ape Escape? I’d love to ask! Anyway have a listen to the track Live From the Crematorium on the bands Soundcloud here and you’ll know exactly what I mean.
Now the shoot will eventually become a video to the track L.A. Lights, you can listen to it in the Soundcloud link above, but wow what an experience being on set. The first location was at a quarry where the only way I can describe it is a dinner party with some light entertainment; sword fighting, blood, smoke all that lovely stuff.
The second location was in a small studio based in Leeds where we were being blasted by 8 kilowatts of light for a large portion of the evening, sweaty stuff to say the least. But all in all it was an amazing experience; busy, hectic, fun, exciting, exhausting... all these words come to mind but the people I’ve met makes it all worth it because it’s been a great experience and I’m very thankful to be given the opportunity to help out.
For now though, I recommend you have a look at some of the other stuff the director has been involved in here. Speak to you soon.
